Asset Register
Before you even start thinking about a new asset inspection program, the first step is to account for all your on-site assets. We will build an asset register, using your preferred IDMS platform, that takes the time-consuming data entry step off your plate, plus we will outline the key regulations or code requirements for all the equipment at your plant.

Damage Mechanism Reviews (DMRs)
We offer detailed damage mechanism reviews (DMRs) to identify possible degradation mechanisms, including corrosion, erosion, cracking, and fatigue. We know how these risks can impact your inspection efforts, and we will share practical steps that you can easily apply to your inspection and maintenance programs. The results of a DMR will help you manage potential risks and improve the long-term integrity and reliability of your assets.
Circuitization
We know how difficult it is to inspect the miles of piping networks that stretch or twist around pressure vessels and other equipment at your plant, while simultaneously trying to determine the start and end points of thousands of distinct line numbers. Our circuitization report uses our in-house drafting experts to identify process function, specific P&ID locations, damage mechanisms, and deliver customized drawings. You will save time and resources with a simplified piping inspection plan that groups systems and circuits.

Condition Monitoring Locations (CMLs)
Examining every piping inspection point is costly and time-consuming. You need to know which condition monitoring locations (CMLs) are the most valuable, if you have identified the highest risk locations, and if you are actually inspecting the right places. Our team uses your DMRs and isometric drawings to determine the most important locations for effective monitoring. Whether your facility is brand-new or has been in operation for decades, our proactive approach will identify asset degradation and help prevent potential failures.
CASE STUDY
Risk Analysis of Piping Circuits

Industry
Midstream
Type of Asset
Natural Gas Transmission Terminal
Location
Texas, USA
Issue
The client needed our consulting expertise to implement a risk-based inspection (RBI) to help avoid unnecessary inspections of fixed equipment and piping assets with low probability of failure (POF) and consequence of failure (COF). The client wanted to focus inspection efforts on the high-risk assets where they were most needed.
Solution
We circuitized the relevant piping at the terminal, thereby reducing the number of standalone piping line numbers by consolidating them into 79 piping circuits. These grouped piping circuits were then risk-ranked along with approximately 30 fixed equipment assets to determine the calculated inspection recommendations.
Result
By implementing an API RP 580/581 risk-based approach, the client has now saved an estimated $5.65 million across more than 20 facilities by reducing the number of inspections they would have been required to perform if they had continued a time-based inspection approach. And while the cost savings are remarkable, it is secondary to the main result of these RBI assessments, which is to implement an optimized inspection strategy that prioritizes safety and targets the active damage mechanisms that lead to failures.
